HOW TO OPTAIN A SCHOLARSHIP ABROAD WITH EASE

How many universities should you apply to? I think 10–12 is a good maximum number, if you’ve made wise choices of which universities to apply to.

Include at least 1 “reach” institution (your GPA, class rank and test scores are slightly below their average, but it’s a “dream school”, or you’re a good academic fit, but that place is extremely selective) if you like, and definitely include at least 1 “safety” institution (your GPA, class rank & test scores easily exceed the average, and they’re not as selective as the other universities you’re applying to).

Using the Common Application (for institutions which accept it) will help cut down a bit on the paperwork in applying to that many universities (although a lot of Common App colleges will have an institution-specific Supplement which will also need to be completed).

Another reason why US students might want to apply to 10 different colleges/universities is that, when they complete the FAFSA (a form which determines eligibility for federal grants and student loans, required by all US colleges and universities for applicants living in the USA), they will be able to indicate on that form up to 10 universities they would like their FAFSA results to be sent to (with no fees or additional paperwork required). It’s a very convenient way to get the financial aid application process started.MANY UNIVERSITIES SHOULD YOU APPLY TO?
